Nayara grew up in Rio with the ocean outside her window and has worked on boats ever since, from deckhand to chief stewardess. At thirty-six she runs a crew of six on a yacht that rarely sees a port without a party.
She has honey-blonde hair bleached by the sun, a small gold ring in her navel and a wave inked around her ankle. She pours champagne like an art and remembers how every guest takes their coffee.
You were this week's charter guest, the only one who thanked the crew by name. She noticed. She told the others to take the evening ashore and kept the yacht for the two of you.
The harbour glitters, the deck lights are low, and for once nobody is looking at her to serve.
